ADDRESS 21 first to be aggressive towards His Faith and to attack His Signs and proofs. Why do you hasten towards evil at the time of mutual benef- icence and toward division at the time of union? Do you not see the disorder created by the offspring of the whisperers? The friends of false- hood pierced us with injurious words, wounded us by the denigration of the Chief of the nobles and with their rejection of the Book of Allah, which comprises all blessings. They trampled us under their tongues and their feet, and beguiled our youth through the power of their greed and subtle trickery. They appeared as a fatal disease to Islam and like a wolf to the Muslims. Thus, we fell into a severe famine with its conse- quential calamities multiplying, while its uprooting and obliteration lie exclusively within the power of Allah. They pelt stones at our reli- gion and assault the honour of our Prophet and beloved friend. Strange is your Islam! You fail to wake up from your slumber. Do you not see that the end time has arrived and the hordes of enemies have poured in and the earth has become straitened for us with pov- erty and adversity? Know, therefore, that for Islam this age is a difficult time, and its verdant garden has turned barren. Had Allah's mercy not come to save it, it would have perished. The disbelievers have decorated falsehood while disparaging the musk and perfume of flowers. The Quran is viewed as defective and considered worthless; its clothing torn apart at the bosom and its mir- acles rejected. Urine is mixed with water, and darkness is preferred over light. They exalted ‘Īsā'as [Jesus] with excessive praise and attrib- uted to Allah, the One, of having daughters and sons. They made His servant equal to Allah and pushed people into the deepest darkness of the night. They carved out slander against the Noble Prophet and led astray a multitude of people through these fabrications. Nothing hurts my heart more than their mockery of the majesty of Mustafa [the Chosen One] and their wounding the honour of the Best of Creation. By God, if all my young ones, my children and my grand- children were murdered right before my eyes, and my hands and feet were cut off and my eyeballs were pierced and I were deprived of all my
