AT-TABLIGH- TO ELDERS OF INDIA, AFGHANISTAN, EGYPT & BEYOND 439 If it is so, then bring forth a precedent from the past ages if you are the guided ones. No incident occurs before us, but there is a precedent for it in times past. This is what Allah referred to, and He is the Most Truthful: وَ لَنْ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ اللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًا 10 And verily, the example of the former people has already gone. There are two parties that disagree in their opinions. One of them holds fast to the precedent but the other has no supporting precedent with them. So which of the parties is closer to truth? Look at it with the eyes of the just. O people! Fear Allah! Fear Allah! Desist! Desist! Do not follow the desires of the misguided lot and always remember what Mustafāsas said. I have come to you as an arbiter and judge to give verdict in the disputed matters. Therefore, accept my testimony. I have been blessed with a knowledge which neither you nor anyone else has been granted. If you are in doubt about my affair then come forward and let Allah judge between us and you. Indeed, He is the Most Powerful and Omnipotent Lord; He is with the truthful; He hears and sees. He has given me the glad tidings at this time and said: يا عيسى سأريك آياتي الكبري [O ‘Īsā (Jesus), I shall soon show you My great Signs. ] So what line of explanation would be more right than this if you are seeking guidance? I have come at a time when darkness has spread and truth has vanished into the murk, and these have been the days of epidemics. Many peoples perished, and Islam was like an emaciated she-camel 1. And thou will never find a change in the way of Allah (Sūrah al-Ahzāb, 33:63). [Publisher]
