314 Α'ΙΝΑ-Ε-ΚΑMĀLĀT-E-ISLAM-DAFI UL-WASĀWIS blessings of Allah be upon him, and do not acknowledge that the Holy Quran is the Word of God and declare our Noble Messengersas to be a fabricator and our Holy Book to be a collection of fabrications; and whereas there have been ongoing debates between them and us for a lengthy period of time, and all their criticisms have been completely answered; and the objections which can be raised against their own religions and books have been pointed out to them repeatedly with promises of rewards, and it has been manifestly stated that the beliefs and the principles of their religions, which are opposed to Islam, are remote from truth and something to be ashamed of—nevertheless, they have not accepted the Truth, nor have they given up their haugh- tiness and abuse; Therefore, to present my argument to them in its entirety and con- clusively, I have written this announcement today, which, in brief, is as follows: Friends! People of all religions who believe in reward and pun- ishment, in the continued existence of the soul, and in the Day of Judgment, may disagree on hundreds of things, yet they all agree on the basic tenet that God exists. They all claim that the religion that they follow and the guidance that they bear is from the same God. They say that only they are the people who walk in the way of His will and whom He loves, and all the rest are victims of His wrath, fallen into the pit of ignorance, and with whom God Almighty is very much displeased. Since everyone claims to walk in the path of the will of God Almighty, and believes that their own way, and no other way, is the basis of salvation and Divine acceptance; and holds that only by walking on their path can God Almighty be pleased; that He only loves people like them, and, frequently and predominantly, pays heed to them and grants acceptance to their prayers; it is easy to arrive at a decision. So far as the basic tenet mentioned above is concerned [that God exists], I agree with everyone. I also believe it to be true that there should be something established by God Almighty in this very world
