I feel that your statements reek not only of believing this Ummah to be bereft of Divine communion, but also that you deny that any Prophet had the honour of ever receiving the living and powerful Word of God Almighty. If your doctrine is truly what I have under- stood it to be, and which has crossed my mind, then I fear that—God forbid your faith is in a precarious situation indeed. I would be very pleased if you would let me know through some newspaper that you do not deny that Prophets receive the living Word of God Almighty or that the Word of God does not consist of infor- mation about the unseen. If, however, you believe, God forbid, what I have so far understood to be your belief that the Divine Scriptures are not in fact and in reality the Word of God Almighty, and that wahy [revelation] means only a natural capacity possessed by Prophets-that is, they have a natural capacity to speak of wisdom and truth—I wish to publicly refute this position and to carry this argument to its con- clusion so that people are not misled to their destruction by following you.
