220 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS the clouds and the wind, etc. , which are neither recognizable by these objects, nor are these latter possessed of the power to bring their influ- ence to bear on the proper occasion as I have already just proven. I have also proven that Almighty God does not do any work with- out intermediate agencies, and whoever He appoints as such an agent, He first grants them the strength and capabilities applicable for these duties. For instance, works requiring the exercise of reason are entrusted to rational beings, and those requiring volition to one having volition. Man's work is entrusted to man; animal's to an animal: and that requiring fineness of perception to one having fine perception. Thus, after all these proofs, without doubt, the need for the existence of angels is proven. In matters of belief this kind of proof suffices, so that there might not be placed on the believers a burden which is beyond his strength to bear, and so that he may deserve reward for his faith. For, if the existence of angels would have been proven by, for instance, physically holding an angel and pointing him out as one, then faith would no longer remain faith, and So] فَافْهَمْ وَتَدَبَّرْ وَلَا تَكُنْ مِنَ الْمُسْتَعْجِلين. salvation would have become illogical ponder over these things and try to understand, and do not be in a hurry to controvert them].
