192 ΑΙΝΑ-Ε-ΚΑMĀLĀT-E-ISLAM-DAFI UL-WASĀWIS all such efforts fail to do any good if the king is not destined to survive. Death triumphs over the physicians after a struggle lasting several days. Such things are of a frequent occurrence. But alas! People do not care- fully reflect upon them. In short, it is established that the All-Powerful One has not con- fined and limited the events of the world to just the visible system, but there is also an invisible system which is in operation at all times. Although the Sun, the Moon, the Earth, and the vapours that become rain, and the winds that blow fiercely, and the hail that falls upon the earth and the shooting stars, all have physical causes for all their func- tions, changes, cycles, and occurrences which are extensively described in books on Astronomy and Physics, yet those who possess insight know that beneath these causes there are other causes which are consciously regulating them and who are called angels in other terms. Whatever they are connected with, they carry it to its goal; in their functions, they keep in mind the spiritual objectives that God Almighty has com- mitted to their care. Their actions are not vain. On the contrary, they have great objectives in mind in all that they do. Considering that it is an established verity which I have set out in some detail above and which I have discussed in great detail in my booklet Taudīḥ-e-Mārām [Elucidation of Objectives], that the All- Wise One has instituted two systems for the proper functioning of the universe. The invisible system is related to the angels and there is no branch of the visible system which does not have the invisible system behind it. Thus in this case, it can be easily understood by anyone with sound intellect that the causes upon which the visible system of the falling of shooting stars operates do not interfere with, nor stand in the way of, the causes and means of the spiritual system. The spiritual sys- tem is that an angel is appointed on every shooting star, who moves it in whatever direction it desires. The way of the movement of shooting stars bears witness to this. It is obvious that the function of the angel cannot be without a purpose. There must be some objective behind this which is of benefit for the religion and the world, but it is not possible
