178 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI UL-WASĀWIS and systematically in His creation to explain the ordinances of His Shariah to make people recognize that this Shariah and this teaching emanate from the same God who is One without any partner, such Deeds of whose exist which maintain absolute harmony with these Words of His, since the harmony between words and deeds is a conclu- sive proof that the One who has done those Deeds is the very One who has revealed those Words. I will now explain, by way of example, some of the oaths which appear in the Noble Quran. One of them is the following: وَالسَّمَاءِ وَالطَّارِقِ وَمَا أَدْرُكَ مَا الطَّارِقُ النَّجْمُ الثَّاقِبُ إِنْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ لَمَّا عَلَيْهَا حافظه The real purport and objective of these verses is that angels have been appointed for the spiritual protection of every soul. ²* They constantly accompany them and protect whosoever needs protection. This, how- ever, is a subtle and abstract statement, since angels themselves are an imperceptible creation. How, then, would it be possible to believe in their protective influence? AUTHOR'S MARGIN NOTE Whether the angels protect against physical calamities or spiritual ones, in both cases their safeguarding against these dangers is of a spiritual nature. Hence, God, the Noble and Wise, has cited His law governing the heavenly bodies in the form of a witness here. In other words, we can see God's law of nature clearly and palpably that the heavens and stars, the Sun and the Moon, and whatever else exists in 1. Surah at-Tariq, 86:2-5 [Publisher] 2. Note: Although angels also safeguard against physical calamities, their protecting is strictly in a spiritual manner. For instance, if someone is stand- ing near a wall that is about to collapse, no angel will lift him up with his own hands and take him away. However, if that person is destined to be saved, an angel would reveal to his heart that he should move away quickly. Nevertheless, the protection of the stars, elements, etc. , is physical. Author
