162 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS Accordingly, He states in regard to the Companions—may Allah be pleased with them—of the Holy Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him: وَأَيَّدَهُمْ بِرُوحِ مِنْهُ Meaning that: God helped them with the Holy Spirit and the help of the Holy Spirit is that it enlivens the hearts, delivers from spiritual death, bestows pure faculties, pure senses, and pure knowledge, and conveys to the station of nearness to God Almighty through certainty of knowledge and conclusive arguments. For, only those are close to Him who know for a certainty that He exists, and know with certainty that His powers, mercies, punishments, and judgments are all true, and that He is the Source of all graces, and the Fountainhead of the entire system of the universe, and the Ultimate Cause of the entire chain of causes and effects, and, moreover, that He is the Sovereign by will, in whose hands lies the entire dominion of the heavens and the earth. This knowledge, which is the means of salvation, cannot be attained with certainty and definitiveness except through the life that is granted to man by the Holy Spirit. The Noble Quran claims loudly and emphatically that that spiritual life is obtained only through fol- lowing this Noble Messenger and that all those people who repudiate obedience to this Noble Prophet are dead and lack the spirit of that life. Here, 'spiritual life' refers to those human faculties of knowledge and action that are brought to life by the assistance of the Holy Spirit. It is proved from the Noble Quran that those commandments upon which Allah, glorified be His eminence, wishes humankind to become established are 600. In consonance with this, the wings of Jibra'il, peace be upon him, are also 600. Till the egg of humanness bearing these 600 commandments upon its head comes to lie under the wings of Jibra'il, the hatchling of being completely lost in Allah is 1.
