150 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS فَأَمَّا الْيَتِيمَ فَلَا تَقْهَر وَ أَمَّا السَّابِلَ فَلَا تَنْهَرْ وَأَمَّا بِنِعْمَةِ رَبِّكَ فَحَدِّثُ The reason is that all these verses are arranged in a coherent sequence, and the subsequent verses elaborate and clarify the implicit mean- ings contained in the earlier verses. For example, it is first stated: Surah aḍ-Ṭuḥā, 93:7]. Corresponding to this, it was [later] stated: [Surah aḍ-Ṭuḥā, 93:10]; meaning that: 'Remember! You were also an orphan and We provided refuge for you. Similarly, you should also give refuge to orphans. ' Then, after this verse, it was said: [Surah ad-Duḥā, 93:8]. Corresponding to this, it was stated: [Sūrah aḍ-Ṭuḥā, 93:11]; meaning that: 'Remember that you, too, once pleaded for Our nearness and longed to behold Our beauty and were a seeker of Our truths and ver- ities. Thus, just as We nurtured you physically like a father, so too did We, in place of a teacher, open all the doors of knowledge for you. We granted you the sweet drink of liqā [communion] more abundantly than any other. Whatever you asked for, We granted you. Therefore, do not turn away those who ask, nor rebuke them. Remember that you were j—'a'il [indigent], and apparent means of livelihood were entirely cut off from you; and so God Himself became your Guardian and freed you from the need to turn to others for help. You had no need to depend on a father, nor a mother, nor a teacher, nor did you need to seek assistance from anyone else. Rather, all these matters were taken care of by Allah Almighty Himself, and from the moment of your birth, He took you under His care. [Sūrah aḍ-Ṭuḥā, 93:8]. Therefore, be grateful to Him and treat the needy in like manner [Sūrah aḍ-Duḥā, 93:11]. ' Comparing all these verses with one another, it becomes very clear that the word ḍäll here does not mean the one who has lost his way. 1. So the orphan, oppress not, And as for the beggar, chide him not, And as for the bounty of your Lord, do relate it to others (Surah aḍ-Duḥā, 93:10–12). [Publisher]
