PREFACE ESSENCE OF ISLAM 143 The trust refers to all faculties, intellect, knowledge, mind, life, senses, fear, love, honour, grandeur, and all the physical and spiritual bounties that God Almighty grants to the perfect man. Then, in com- pliance with the following verse, the perfect man renders all these back to His Divine Majesty [Allah]: إنَّ اللهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تُؤَدُّوا الْآمَنتِ إِلَى أَهْلِهَا That is to say, he annihilates his self completely in Allah and devotes it entirely in His path, as I have explained already in describing the sub- ject of the essence of Islam. And this grand stature was found in its highest, complete, and most perfect form in our Lord, Master, and Guide, the Immaculate Prophet, the Righteous One, testified to by the righteous, Muhammad sas Mustafa, [the Chosen One], may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. As God Almighty Himself says in the Noble Quran: قُلْ إِنَّ صَلَاتِي وَنُسُكِي وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِي لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَلَمِينَ ، لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَبِذَلِكَ أُمِرْتُ وَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ 20 وَ أَنَّ هَذَا صِرَاطِي مُسْتَقِيمًا فَاتَّبِعُوهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا السُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ 3 قُلْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ اللهَ فَاتَّبِعُونِي يُحْبِبْكُمُ اللهُ وَيَغْفِرُ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمُ فَقُلْ أَسْلَمْتُ وَجْهِيَ لِلَّهِ ؟ وَأُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَسْلِمَ لِرَبِّ الْعَلَمِينَ 6 1.
