120 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS would say in such a case that the water in the canal intelligent person had dried up or had been removed. The same is the case with the errors of interpretation by the Prophets. The Holy Spirit never departs from them, but sometimes, for some purpose of His own, God Almighty takes possession of the understanding and perception of Prophets and in such a condition some word or action proceeds from them in forgetfulness or error and thereafter the wisdom that was intended becomes manifest. Then, the river of waḥy begins to flow with force, and the intervening error is removed as if it never existed. The Messiah ran towards a fig tree to eat its fruit and, although the Holy Spirit accompanied him, it failed to warn him that the tree bore no fruit at the time. Despite all this, everyone knows that the rare and exceptional lies in the category of the non-existent. Indeed, it was necessary that this should happen occasionally so that his humanness might be confirmed and people might not become involved in making him an associate with God. activity, and inactivity of our Prophet, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. The ignorant maulawis of today believe in the per- petual companionship of the Holy Spirit with the Messiah from the glance of just a sin- gle verse, whereas the fol- lowing verse in relation to our Prophetas is superior in clarity, detail, and evidence: وَمَا يَنْطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَى إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْى يُوحَى 0 What a pity that those blind of sight fail to look upon this clear and explicit verse!
