106 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS against them based on the Quran, Hadith, and reason. Of the many evil consequences that inevitably arose from their creed, one evil is that such a belief renders the Divine spiritual order unjust and devoid of mercy. AUTHOR'S MARGIN NOTE Baṭālawi and Nadhir Husain gave Christians and oth- ers the opportunity to raise objections against Islam, but they imposed the flaws of their own understanding upon Islam The disbelievers and all opponents [of Islam] were given an opportunity to raise the objection against Islam of how callous and contrary to the quality of mercy it is for God Almighty to appoint Satan and his spawn as a constant companion and attendant of man to lead him astray, so that they remain preoccupied with undermining his faith, and at all times infiltrate his blood, heart, mind, veins, eyes, and ears, sowing all manner of doubts, whereas man is not given even a single such companion who should constantly stay with him and guide him! This objection does indeed arise inevitably from these people's above-mentioned creed, for they believe on the one hand that the angels Gabriel [Jibra'īl] and Azrael ['Izra'il], the Angel of Death, have their abode fixed in heaven-they cannot move even one arm's length below or above their appointed place—according to the verse: Ciclós On the other [hand], they also firmly believe in the phys- ical descent [of the angels] upon the earth; and again, they imagine that they return to heaven in the same manner with their actual bodies. If anyone should contradict their belief of physical descent and ascent, he is, according to them, a kāfir [disbeliever]. AUTHOR'S MARGIN NOTE The belief of Bațalawi and Dehlawi that the perpetual companion of man is only Satan and nothing more- destroys and disrupts the bal- anced system of God Almighty which pertains to the moral training of man The creed of these strange Muslims faces the dilemma that it completely destroys the balanced spiritual order of which I have spoken-namely, the existence, side by side, of an evil and a good companion 1. And the angels say: 'And there is not one of us but has an appointed station' (Surah aş-Saffat, 37:165). [Publisher]
