100 Α'ΙΝΑ-Ε-ΚΑMĀLĀT-E-ISLAM-DAFI UL-WASĀWIS by Mujahid that there is no such individual for whose protection an angel has not been permanently assigned. ¹ Then there is another hadith recorded from 'Uthman bin 'Affan, the summary of which is that twenty angels accompany man to serve him in various ways; and lying in wait for every opportune moment are Iblis during the day and Iblīs' children during the night with the intent of inflicting harm. ² Moreover, there is a hadith narrated by Imam Ahmad, may the mercy of Allah be upon him, as written below: حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنِي مَنْصُورٌ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا وَقَدْ وُكِّلَ بِهِ قَرِينُهُ مِنْ الْجِنِّ وَقَرِينُهُ مِنْ الْمَلَائِكَةِ قَالُوا وَإِيَاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ وَإِيَايَ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهِ أَعَانَنِي عَلَيْهِ فَلَا يَأْمُرُنِي إِلَّا بِخَيْرٍ. The narration from Abdullah is reported through Aswad and others that the Messenger of Allah, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "There is no one from among you who is not accompanied by a companion of the nature of the jinn and a companion from among the angels. A Companion asked, And you, too, O Messenger of Allahsas?' He replied, 'Yes, I too, but God has placed my jinn under my control so that he does not urge me to anything but goodness and virtue. ' This hadith is found exclusive to [Sahih] Muslim, page 244 [from among the Șihāḥ Sittah]. AUTHOR'S MARGIN NOTE It is established from authen- tic ahādīth that man has been conferred two compan- ions-a caller to good and a caller to evil This hadith clearly and manifestly proves that just as there is a دَاعِي إِلَى الشَّرِّ ]caller to evil] appointed for man who always stays with him, so too is there a دَاعِي إِلَى الْخَيْرِ 1.
