78 Ā'ĪNA-E-KAMĀLĀT-E-ISLĀM―DĀFI‘UL-WASĀWIS Meaning that: A Muslim is the one who commits his entire being to the cause of God Almighty; that is to say, who devotes his being entirely to Allah the Exalted, and to following His will, and to attaining His pleasure, and then remaining steadfast in doing good deeds for the sake of God Almighty and devoting all his faculties of action to that cause. In other words, one should belong solely to God Almighty, both doctrinally and practically. ‘Doctrinally' means that one should truly regard one's entire being as something which has been created for the recognition, obedience, adoration, and love of God Almighty and for seeking His pleasure. And 'practically' means the doing of all real acts of goodness that are related to each of one's abilities and God-given faculties, solely for the sake of Allah, but with such eagerness, zeal, and attention as if beholding the countenance of the True Beloved in the mirror of one's obedience. The remaining translation of the verse is that whosoever has doc- trinal and practical purity based on such personal love, and performs good deeds with such natural zeal, it is only such a one who deserves reward in the sight of Allah; such people have no fear, nor do they grieve. In other words, for such people, salvation is immediately availa- ble because when one truly believes in the Being and attributes of Allah and achieves perfect affinity with Him, and his desires align with the will of God Almighty, and his pleasure lies entirely in His obedience, and all good deeds are performed with relish and spiritual delight— and not by way of carrying a burden-then that is indeed the state of being which can be called success, salvation, and deliverance. And whatever shall be witnessed and felt in the Hereafter due to salvation, shall really be a reflection and consequence of this very state of being, which will be felt bodily in the world of the Hereafter. In other words, heavenly life begins in this very world and the root of the punishment of Hell also is the filthy and blind life on this earth. By reflecting upon the noble verses mentioned above, every right- minded person will be able to realize that the essence of Islam can truly become established in someone when his whole being-together with
