THE MESSAGE OR A CRY OF ANGUISH 83 anxiety. So, we would be left with no excuse and overcome by regret, we would suffer a bad end. In short, it is wrong for us to pursue this desire and seek such purpose. It does not behove us to run after this Government like female mourners; and to bring ourselves out of the safe haven of explicit proofs; and to waste our precious time in lamenting and mourning like women. Is it rather not appropriate to think of demolishing the foundation of this faction; and to turn our attention to their absurdities; and to do away with the misconceptions of their ignorance rather than leav- ing them in their arrogance and conceit, and not warning them about their mistakes and errors? Is it not proper to expose them for their slanders and fabrications, and to disclose their dishon- esty and shamelessness to the people? Or should we remain con- tent with them being punished at the hands of the officials? On the contrary, it is incumbent upon us to demolish their miscon- ceptions and break their pens and make their discourse like a soft morsel for the chewers [the defenders of Islam]. If we fail to do this, it is as if we have not rendered any service to faith, nor have we recognised the favour of Allah, the Best of Benefactors, nor are we grateful to Him, but rather we have lived a life of heedlessness. Indeed Allah has granted us complete freedom in matters of establishing the truth and falsifying what the liars have fabricated. If we did not benefit from this freedom, we would indeed not be thanking Allah, the Lord of Grace and Beneficence, for His boun- ties, nor would we be among the grateful ones. Do you not see how freely we live under this Government and how much choice we have been given in respect of our faith and liberty to engage in debates regarding the [affairs of] the Muslim Ummah? We have been released from the shackles of the Sikh regime and have been
