78 HADRAT MIRZA GHULAM AHMADAS and made them heirs to all the Prophets. The Prophetsas purified them and cleansed them to the extent that they lost themselves in the Will of God. They shed their blood in the cause of Allah the Glorious and submitted themselves wholly to Him. Moreover, the Prophetsas taught new, unique insights as well as subtle and rare points of knowledge, so that we attained grace by borrowing out of his grace. We ascertained truthful arguments by follow- ing his guidance and ascended to heaven after being sunk in the earth. O my Lord! Send down blessings upon [Muhammad] and upon his holy and pure progeny and upon his companions-who were his helpers and were [divinely] supported till the Day of Judgement. They were the elect of Allah who put Him above their own selves, honour, possessions and children. Peace be on you, O brothers in faith! Peace be upon you! May you attain good and be saved from the evils of the time and may you attain the pleasures of the Lord of the worlds. Brothers, friends and companions! Know, this age has shown wonders and made us suffer and grieve on account of the owls of a dark night sneering at a lustrous pearl. The time approaches when this faith from the Gracious God will come under constant attacks, a faith that has been perfumed with the exceptional fra- grance of knowledge and abundantly blessed with the bounties of heaven and the streams of fresh and clean water have been made to flow towards it. To elaborate, certain fools and misguided apostates from the newly converted Christians have denigrated and abused our Prophetsas with audacity and have held our faith up to mockery. This is despite the fact that they have taken a god beside the Gracious Lord. They forsook Allah by prostrat- ing before a man and forged a manifest lie. Indeed, they are not
