76 HADRAT MIRZA GHULAM AHMADAS peace. Therefore, they must be firm with this very habit in the future, and not turn their attention to other measures. Moreover, an intellectual advancement is achieved through this strategy. It is only because of this that in our British India even a less capable and knowledgeable debater, that keeps himself engaged in discourse with priests, develops so much proficiency in matters of debate that if a renowned scholar in Constantinople is asked about the same matters as are within the knowledge [of the Indian], he will never be able to express them. The reason is that such kind of debates are not held in that country, therefore, they are completely unaware of this field, and the majority of them are naive and ignorant. Now, in order to fulfil the above mentioned objectives, I, following this treatise, write an Arabic treatise whose Persian translation is written below every line, because the people of far and wide lands cannot read Urdu, for instance, the people of Arab lands or the people living in Iran, Bukhara and Kabul etc. So it was deemed appropriate, in order to publish this great work, to write something in Arabic and Persian so that these people too may not be left bereft from rendering valuable service to faith. I seek help from Allah the Almighty that He may enable me to also complete this Arabic and Persian treatise. Amin.
