30 JULY 1905 263 30 JULY 1905 (Before Ishā Prayer) The Difference between the Promised Messiah and His Opponents When His Holiness came before Ishā as usual, first the four men from the vicinity of Lodhi Nangal performed Baiat [the Pledge of Allegiance]. After the Baiat, it was mentioned that Maulawi Sanaullah of Amritsar had gone to the village of Teja in the vicinity of Lodhi Nangal, where, during his address at a public gathering, he said that the followers of Mirza Şahib recite the following creed: There is no one worthy of worship except ] لَا إِلهَ إِلَّا اللهُ مِرْزَا غُلَامٍ أَحْمَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ Allah, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is the Messenger of Allah']. Upon hear- ing this, an opponent [of the Ahmadiyya Movement] but fair-minded person stood up and said, 'Maulawi Şahib, if you can show this creed from any of Mirza Şāhib's writings, I will give you a cash reward of 500 rupees right now. ' Hearing this challenge, Maulawi Şahib was stumped, and most people got up and left in disgust, and Maulawi Şahib came back embarrassed.
