NOTICE TO CENSURE THE CHRISTIANS AND SILENCE EVERY CHALLENGER The Christians said that they possess a complete and vast share of the Arabic language, and that a group of Muslims has joined them who excel in literary sciences along with many experts in the Islamic arts. They alleged that not only is the Holy Quran not eloquent, but it is also not even [linguistically] correct and they have long known of its flaws. They wrote books and spread them throughout the country in an effort to mislead people and increase the rot of apostasy. They claimed that they were among the foremost ulama of Islam and the best of the noble and great people. They said, 'We pondered the Quran and ana- lysed its text but did not find its eloquence and rhetoric to be at the level of perfect beauty and elegant arrangement, as is presumed by the masses. On the contrary, we found it to be full of mistakes and poorly chosen, strange words, and it is not truthful in its claim. This is how they disparaged the Clear Book of Allah. They were aggressive in their abuse and ridicule. Therefore, my Lord inspired me to conclusively establish the argument of God against them and show the world the ignorance of the wicked.
