O You who Reject Me! Ponder over My Word and Hasten your Steps Towards Allah, the One God, and Put Aside the Mention of Previous Religions Dear ones! I will relate to you my story if you would listen and felicita- tions to you if you accept it. You have surely come to hear the word of those who hastened to call me a disbeliever. So let me now clarify my arguments to you. Then you may choose to become my helper or join those who criticize me. I am a man from among the Muslim nation. I believe in Allah and His Scriptures and His Messengers and the Best of His Creation, the Seal of the Prophets. I am not among those who brazenly oppose the reported pronouncements of the Most Excellent of all created beings; rather, I am among those who fear their Lord and purify their minds of any trace of vain thinking. Indeed, I have been granted a high status among men [of God] and my Lord has taught me and has guided me in [delivering] the most excellent speech. He has made me the Mahdi of the appointed time and a Mujaddid [Reformer]. Alas, those who label their fellow Muslims as disbelievers did not comprehend my word and called me a kāfir before pondering over my aims. I told them, by God I am not a kāfir and my Lord knows my Islam. However, they did not renounce their takfir and persisted in their prior actions. They assailed me in their speech and writings and called me a kāfir and a liar, saying they await divine punishment to befall me. God knows that they are among the liars and fabricators, and if not, then they are among the ignorant and impetuous. What! Did I, after spending my entire life in serving the Faith, surpassing the age of 50, all of a sudden begin to fabricate lies against Allah? All this while my Lord's loving watch has safeguarded me from the ways of evil ones. Never did I desire anything in my entire life besides defending the Faith of the Best of Mankind and exalting the name of Islam and sufficient is Allah as a Witness and He is the Best of Witnesses.
