Khalifatul-Masih I — Page 13

Childhood Hazrat Maulawi Noor-ud-Deen's name means Light of the Faith. He was blessed with a photographic and long-term memory. He remembered moments as far back as the days his mother nursed him. His incredible memory also enabled him to memorize the Holy Quran in a very short period of time. He was fortunate to be born into a home that was not only extremely cultured but also where Allah and His Messengersas were always mentioned. Punjabi was the language spoken in Hazrat Maulawi Noor-ud-Deen's hometown, and his mother began teaching him about Islam and the Holy Quran in Punjabi when he was a very young child. When he first heard the Urdu language spoken by an Indian soldier later in life, he liked the sound of it. He not only went on to learn it, but mastered it to the extent that he wrote many books in Urdu.
