? 89 Almighty for some three hundred years. This in fact, is an idiomatic way of Biblical expression meaning that Enoch was a virtuous man and had imbibed the attributes of God. That is to say that his acts were patterned according to the works of God; he was exceedingly compassionate, generous in treatment, affectionate and loving to mankind, was just and equitable and took care of the poor. Similarly, he had in him the other attributes of God Cherisher, Beneficent, Merciful, Master and Forgiving. And, next, that he was taken to the heavens― that is he completely resembled the Messiah and held the position that the Messiah enjoyed. In fact, the Messiah was vouchsafed only thirty years of life, but Enoch lived as long as 365 years, living a good and righteous life. It shows that Enoch, the great-grandson of Adam (peace be on him) and great-grand-father of Noah (peace be on him), was so good that he was, so to speak, like God and that he was ultimately taken to heaven. When read together with the Messiah's observation: "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the son of man which is in heaven. " (John 3:13) The status of Enoch is further illuminated and we are led to the conclusion that Enoch had come from heaven and had, therefore, gone up to heaven. In fact, it means that
