32 JESUS IN INDIA when they reached the hamlet, Jesus, the Messiah, wanted to part company with them, but they insisted on his staying and spending the night together. He then dined with them, and they all spent the night with Jesus, the Messiah, in Emmaus. See Luke 24:13-31. Now, it is absolutely impossible and irrational to say that Jesus, the Messiah, ate and drank and slept and made a journey of about 70 kose to Galilee and performed all the functions of the physi- cal body with a disembodied spirit—the spiritual form Jesus, the Messiah, is thought to have taken after death. And despite the fact that the accounts found in the Gospels have suffered much alter- ation due to the confluence of various thoughts; nevertheless the words, to whatever extent they are found clearly prove that Jesus the Messiah met his disciples in the same ordinary mortal physi- cal body and undertook the long journey to Galilee on foot and showed his disciple his wounds and ate and spent the night with them. Further on we shall prove that he treated his wounds with an ointment. Now, one has to consider, as to how it is possible that after a person has been invested a glorious and eternal frame, and exempted from the necessity of eating and drinking, is to sit on the right hand of God Almighty, and freed from all pain and deformity, he should still bear on his hands and feet fresh nail wounds which bleed and hurt, and an ointment has to be pre- pared to heal them? In other words, even after having an eternal body which should last forever without changing or deteriorat- ing, Jesus, the Messiah, was still suffering from a number of tra- vails. He even showed his flesh and bones to his disciples; he was also prone to hunger and thirst, or it would serve no purpose to eat and drink and to rest during his journey. Food and water are
