فَإِذَا سَوَّيۡتُهُۥ وَنَفَخۡتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُواْ لَهُۥ سَٰجِدِينَ

‘So when I have fashioned him in perfection and have breathed into him of My Spirit, fall ye down in submission to him.’

وَخَلَقَ مِنۡهَا زَوۡجَهَا

And created therefrom its mate.

دَنَا فَتَدَلَّىٰ

He drew nearer to God; then he came down to mankind.

فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوۡسَيۡنِ أَوۡ أَدۡنَىٰ

So that he became, as it were, one chord to two bows or closer still.

قُلۡ إِنَّ صَلَاتِي وَنُسُكِي وَمَحۡيَايَ وَمَمَاتِي لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

Say, ‘My Prayer and my sacrifice and my life and my death are all for Allah, the Lord of the worlds.

ٱللَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡحَيُّ ٱلۡقَيُّومُ

Allah — there is no God but He, the Living, the Self-Subsisting and All-Sustaining.

إِيَّاكَ نَعۡبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسۡتَعِينُ

Thee alone do we worship and Thee alone do we implore for help.

وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ

And ask forgiveness for thy frailties, and for believing men and believing women.

وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۢبِكَ

And ask forgiveness for thy frailties.

مَن يَأۡتِ رَبَّهُۥ مُجۡرِمٗا فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحۡيَىٰ

He who comes to his Lord a sinner — for him is Hell; he shall neither die therein nor live.

وَإِذۡ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِيثَٰقَ ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ لَمَآ ءَاتَيۡتُكُم مِّن كِتَٰبٖ وَحِكۡمَةٖ ثُمَّ جَآءَكُمۡ رَسُولٞ مُّصَدِّقٞ لِّمَا مَعَكُمۡ لَتُؤۡمِنُنَّ بِهِۦ وَلَتَنصُرُنَّهُۥ ۚ قَالَ ءَأَقۡرَرۡتُمۡ وَأَخَذۡتُمۡ عَلَىٰ ذَٰلِكُمۡ إِصۡرِي ۖ قَالُوٓاْ أَقۡرَرۡنَا

And remember the time when Allah took a covenant from the people through the Prophets, saying: ‘Whatever I give you of the Book and Wisdom and then there comes to you a Messenger, fulfilling that which is with you, you shall believe in him and help him.’ And He said: ‘Do you agree, and do you accept the responsibility which I lay upon you in this matter?’ They said, ‘We agree.

وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَلِلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ وَٱلۡمُؤۡمِنَٰتِ ۗ

And ask forgiveness for thy frailties, and for believing men and believing women.

خُلِقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ ضَعِيفٗا

for man has been created weak.

وَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَٰكَ إِلَّا رَحۡمَةٗ لِّلۡعَٰلَمِينَ

And We have sent thee not but as a mercy for all peoples.

قُلۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱللَّهَ فَٱتَّبِعُونِي يُحۡبِبۡكُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَيَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ ذُنُوبَكُمۡ

Say, ‘If you love Allah, follow me: then will Allah love you and forgive you your faults.

حَبَّبَ إِلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡإِيمَٰنَ وَزَيَّنَهُۥ فِي قُلُوبِكُمۡ وَكَرَّهَ إِلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡكُفۡرَ وَٱلۡفُسُوقَ وَٱلۡعِصۡيَانَ

Has endeared the faith to you and has made it look beautiful to your hearts, and He has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience hateful to you.

مَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰٓ

Nor does he speak out of his own desire.

إِنۡ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحۡيٞ يُوحَىٰ

It is nothing but pure revelation that has been revealed by God.

مَا رَمَيۡتَ إِذۡ رَمَيۡتَ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ رَمَىٰ

Thou threwest not when thou didst throw, but it was Allah Who threw.
