Working Together It was a cold winter, but the companions followed their beloved Prophet's command and worked day and night to dig the trench. Their spirits were further uplifted by seeing their dear Prophetas, constantly by their side, not just supervising, but working with his own hands too. After six days and nights of hard work, they finished the trench. When the army of disbelievers arrived with the intention to destroy Madinah, they were surprised and dismayed. Since they could not find a way to cross the trench, they camped on the other side, while planning their next move. The Holy Prophetsas, along with 3,000 companions, set up their camp across the trench and kept watch over their enemies. 48
