The Battle of the Ditch The Holy Prophetas received news that the disbelievers of Makkah, along with many other tribes, were gathering a big army to attack Madinah. This army had almost 24,000 soldiers who wanted to destroy the Muslims completely. It was a scary time. So, the Holy Prophetas, following Allah's command in the following verse of the Holy Quran, sought advice and consultation of all his companions. وَشَاوِرُهُمْ فِي الْأَمْرِ And consult them in matters of importance [Surah Al-e-Imran, 3:160]. 43
