a rock, or in the heavens, or in the earth, Allah will surely bring it out, for He is the Knower of all subtleties (b), All-Aware (). Here, too, Luqmanas reminds his son that God is aware of even the minutest of things, therefore one should abstain from committing shirk to a degree that not even a seed [with a weight of] a mustard grain remains. Then, [he advises his son]: يُبْنَى أَقِمِ الصَّلوةَ وَأَمُرُ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ وَانْهَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ وَاصْبِرْ عَلَى مَا أَصَابَكَ إِنَّ ذلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ 1 O my dear son! Observe Prayer, and enjoin good, and forbid evil, and endure patiently whatever may befall thee. Surely this is of those matters which require firm resolve. Here Luqmanas informs his son that merely abstaining from sin is no great quality; rather, 1 Surah Luqman, 31:18 [Publishers] -39-
