After some more time going through this exercise, he took me back to the normal room for me to sign my statement and then sent me back to my cell. During my next interrogation, my interrogators showed me a document they had prepared. Having been in possession of all my belongings since my initial arrest, they had the instructions that Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih II gave me upon my departure from Qadian to Bukhara. The Soviet regime had studied the entire set of directions, translated it into Russian, and typed it up into a for- mal document they had kept in their possession for some time. They presented it to me, saying they wanted to ask me about some of these instructions from my Imam. I immediately understood which of the instructions from Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih II they would criticize. The prosecutor asked me to explain the instruction in which Huzoor said that after arriving in Bukhara and beginning my preaching mission, as people begin to convert to the Ahmadiyya Movement, I should not share the names of those converts with anybody. So much so, that I was not even to tell one Ahmadi con- vert about another convert and, instead, should keep that knowl- edge hidden to myself. Huzoor instructed that when I then leave Bukhara for the next city, at that time I should select the sincerest of these converts and share the knowledge of other converts with him so he can keep meeting with them individually while pro- tecting their identity from others and even from one another.
