SOVIET PRESSURE INTENSIFIES 81 Civil Surgeon proceeded to document a favourable report about me and my condition and delivered it to the prison head officer. Once back in prison, the State Prosecutor later called me and asked me what I liked the most. I said that from the bottom of my heart I wish I could have hours of solitude for the worship of God Almighty. I explained this is because this teaching of my master [the Promised Messiah] has had such an impact on me that I had no care nor regard for any country or king; rather, I only cared about making God Almighty happy. It was the Promised Messiah as himself who wrote in his poetry: مجھ کو کیا تاجوں سے میرا تاج ہے رضوانِ یار مجھ کو کیا ملکوں سے میر املک ہے سب سے جدا What have I to do with countries when my Kingdom enjoys distinction above all? What have I to do with crowns when my crown is the pleasure of the Beloved? That fortunate one who gleans spiritual guidance from the Promised Messiahas abandons any attachment to the adorn- ments of this world. Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih II taught us that an Ahmadi Muslim looks past the creation and focuses, instead, on the Creator and captured this sentiment so beautifully in his poetry when he wrote: وہ لطف انکو کہاں میسر ملا جو مجھ کو تیری لگن میں ہیں رنگ رلیاں منا ر ہے لوگ ساغرِ مے چھلک رہے ہیں People are celebrating, overjoyed in drinking wine, But they can never experience the real joy I have found by lov- ing my Lord.
