As soon as Lenin became president, he said, 'Бога нет. Все мы товарищи' [pronounced Boga nyet. Vse my tova-rishchi. ], meaning, 'There is no God. We are all comrades. ' Since these words came from the most powerful man in the nation, it influenced the public all over the country, and people were in awe of the new powerful rule. Any open acceptance of the existence of God was seen as inflicting pain and suffering on oneself. Consequently, many Christian pastors and other scholars were killed at that time, and many were expelled from the coun- try out of the suspicion that they would destroy the country by creating social unrest under the guise of religion. Thus, in the eyes of the government, religious leaders incite rebellions and are the enemy of the state. The Russian government would, thus, put any religious teachers or preachers through all sorts of misery and suffering. If the government would persecute religious figures of their own country, just imagine how they would see someone like me who is a religious missionary from another country!
