CHAPTER ONE My Beginnings in Qadian am incredibly grateful to God that He has con- ferred on me the blessings of finding the Ahmadiyya Movement and, by His grace alone, enabled me to travel from my original village of Dharamkot Randhawa [in India's Gurdaspur district] to Qadian in late 1910 to obtain my education. It began when my eldest brother, Hazrat Sheikh Muhammad Hussain—a Companion of the Promised Messiahas who worked as the chief inspector of postal services in Jhelum- came from Jhelum to Amritsar at the demise of our father, Sheikh Hussain Bakhsh. He sent our middle brother, Sheikh Mazhar Hussain, to Qadian to complete his education and took me back to Jhelum with himself as I was only in the 4th grade at that time. After completing 4th grade in Jhelum, I had the honour of also moving to Qadian. It was during the Khilaafat of Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih Ira that I began my 5th grade education in Qadian, but only after a few days the principal suggested that I be admitted into the 4th grade instead.
