140 FIRST GRAIN OF SAND I was again summoned to testify to officers. In that interroga- tion, they told me that they were going to show me a photo of my Khalifah to see if I can recognize him or not. But they brought out the photo of Hazrat Mufti Muhammad Sadiq instead. I looked and said: Absolutely not! This is not a photo of our beloved mas- ter, rather this is a photo of his very worthy and capable student as well as my respected teacher, Hazrat Mufti Muhammad Sadiq. After this, he made an incredibly annoying and painful comment. He said, 'Your Imam is living a happy and comfortable life while sending you to be imprisoned. ' His taunting statement was too much and upset me greatly to hear it, and I immediately said: I may be in your captivity, and you may have authority over me, but what right do you have to wound my emo- tional state with such harsh words? I am so indebted to my Khalifah for his kind favours to me that I cannot repay him my entire life. I am a small and incompetent servant of his. People with much higher qualifications than me desired to be sent on this journey, but may God Almighty shower the Khalifah with countless blessings that despite the fact that I didn't ask and was weak and prone to mis- takes, he still granted a great favour to a lowly person like myself and sent me to preach in this country.
