THE TORTURE BEGINS III I continued by reciting another sign from the Promised Messiah's poetry, when he wrote: زار بھی ہوگا تو ہو گا اُس گھڑی باحال زار مضمحل ہو جائیں گے اس خوف سے سب جن و انس Men, high and low, will be consumed with fear; And the Czar himself will, at that hour, be in a pitiable state. I explained that [according to this prophecy] the Czar, who was the emperor of Russia and sat on the throne with great splendour and majesty, would fall into disgrace and humiliation due to his atrocities in this war. And the hands that will rise up against him will do so according to God's will. When I said these words in Persian, the Ahmadi translator jumped up from his chair with great enthusiasm, handed me a paper and pen, and asked me to write down this prediction from the Promised Messiahas. Seeing the translator's behaviour, the Colonel asked him what I had said. The translator replied asking him to please be patient and that he will tell him once he himself hears the entire answer. I finally recited one more couplet from the Promised Messiah's poetry along with the Persian translation and then waited quietly: وحی حق کی بات ہے ہو کر رہے گی بے خطا کچھ دنوں کر صبر ہو کر متقی اور بردبار This is a prophecy based on revelation of God and will surely be fulfilled- Wait, then, a while in righteousness and steadfastness.
