متن ما : مَا الْمِائَةُ )1( Used in the sense of مَا عِنْدَكُمْ يَنْفَدُ الَّذِي : Whatever is with you shall pass away (16:97). (2) Which whom وَلَا تَنْكِحُوْا مَانَكَحَ آبَاؤُكُمْ : And do not marry those women whom your fathers married (4:23). (3) What which وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِيْنِكَ : And what is in thy hand (20:18). (4) To express condition i. e. as long as فَمَا اسْتَقَامُوْا لَكُمْ فَاسْتَقِيمُوْا لَهُمْ : So long as they stand true to you, stand true to them (9:7). (5) To denote surprise or admiration. فَمَا أَصْبَرَهُمْ عَلَى النَّارِ : How great is their endurance of the Fire )2:176(. )6( In the sense of "as best". فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ : Fear God as best you can (64:17). (7) In the sense of لَيْسَ )not(: فَمَا رَبِحَتْ تِجَارَتُهُمْ : Their traffic has brought them no gain )2:17(. )8( Sometimes it is redundant. قَلِيلًا مَّا تَشْكُرُوْنَ : Little thanks you give )7:11( )9( بِمَ يَرْجِعُ الْمُرْسَلُوْنَ مَ = مَا : What answer the messengers bring back )27:36( مَاذَا يُنْفِقُوْنَ : مَاذَا : What should they spend (2:216). : One hundred. مِائَةُ عَامٍ : A hundred years )2260( مِائَةُ الْفِ : A thousand years. وَاَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَى مِائَةِ اَلْفِ : We sent him towards a hundred thousand (37:148). لکار 6 مَتَعَ ]aor. يَمْتَعُ inf. noun مَتَّعَ مُتُوْعًا )transitive(. مَتَّعَهُ : He (God) made him to live or provided him with. مَتَعَهَا : He gave her a gift after divorce. بَلْ مَتَّعْنَا هَؤُلَاءِ : Nay We provided those with the good things of this world )21:45( تَمَتِّعَ به and اِسْتَمْتَعَ and اِمْتَتَعَ : He benefited by it or enjoyed it or benefited it for a long time. تَمَتَّعُوْا قَلِيلًاً : Enjoy yourselves or benefit by it for a little while )77:47(. اِسْتَمْتَعَ بَعْضُنَا بِبَعْضٍ : We profited from one another )6:129( مَتَاعٌ : Anything useful; commodity; provision; household goods; necessaries of life; enjoyment. لِلْمُطَلَّقَاتِ مَتَاعٌ : For the divorced women there should be provision )2:24( مَتَاعٌ إِلَى حِيْنِ : Provision or enjoyment for a time )2:37( وَلَمَّا فَتَحُوْا مَتَاعَهُمْ : When they opened their goods )12:66( اَمْتِعَةٌ )plural( عَنْ أَسْلِحَتِكُمْ وَأَمْتِعَتِكُمْ : Of your arms and your goods )4:103(. مَتُنَ ]aor. يَمْتَنُ[ : It became strong, firm hard. مَتِيْنٌ : Strong; solid; firm; hard. إِنَّ كَيْدِى مَتِيْنٌ : My plan is mighty, strong )7:184(. ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِيْنُ : The Powerful, the Strong )51:59(. 747
