قرب : قُرْآنٌ مَّجِيدٌ (17:89) The like of this Qur'an : بِمِثْلِ هَذَا الْقُرْآنِ (17:79) قرب The Glorious Qur'an )5:22( قُرْآنٌ كَرِيمٌ : Noble Qur'an )56:78(. الْقُرْآنِ الْحَكِيمِ : The Qur'an full of wisdom )36:3( الْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ : The Great Qur'an )15:88( قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا : The Qur'an in Arabic )12:3(. قَرُبَ ]aor. يَقْرُبُ and قَرِبَ aor. يَقْرَبُ inf. noun قُرْبَى and قَرَابَةٌ and قُرْبٌ and قُرْبَةٌ and مَقْرَبَةٌ and قُرْبَانٌ and قَرِبَهُ وَ قَرُبَ إِلَيْهِ وَ مِنْهُ قِرْبَانٌ : He was or became near to it. وَ لا تَقْرَبُوْا مَالَ الْيَتِيْمِ : And go not near the property of the orphan )6:153( قَرِبْتُ الْمَرْأَةَ : I compressed the woman. اقْتَرَبَ is syn. with اِقْتَرَبَ مِنِّي قَرُبَ : He drew near to me. But it has a more particular signification than قَرُبَ for it denotes intensiveness in اِقْتَرَبَ الْوَعْدُ الْحَقُّ الْقُرْبُ : The true promise drew near )21:98( تَقَرَّبَ likewise is syn. with تَقَرَّبَ قَرُبَ مِنْهُ : He drew near to him. قَرْبَ )aor يَقْرُبُ signifies also: He formed an opinion that was near to certainty. قَرَّبَهُ )inf. noun تَقْرِيبٌ( : He made or caused to be or become near, or caused to approach or brought near, him or it. بِالَّتِي تُقَرِّبُكُمْ عِنْدَنَا : That will bring you near Us )34:38( قَرَّبَهُ إِلَيْهِ : He offered it to him. قَرَّبَ خَصْمَهُ إِلَى السُّلْطَانِ : He placed or brought his adversary before the Sultan. قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانًا : They both offered a sacrifice )5:28( قَرَّبَهُ إِلَيْهِمْ : He presented or offered it to them )51:28( قَرِيبٌ : Near in respect of place. هُوَ قَرِيبٌ مِّنِي : He is near to me. إِنَّ نَصْرَ اللَّهِ قَرِيبٌ : The help of God is near )2215( مِنْ مَّكَانٍ قَرِيْبٍ : From a place nearby (34:52). It also signifies: Near in respect of time; shortly; nearly . أَقَمْتُ عِنْدَهُ قَرِيبًا مِّنْ سَنَةٍ : I stayed with him nearly for a year. (Hence also the phrase ثُمَّ يَتُوْبُوْنَ مِنْ قَرِيْبٍ : مِنْ قَرِيْبٍ : Then repent soon after (4:18). It also signifies near as meaning related by birth or by marriage. قُرْبٌ is contr. of قُرْبَةٌ بُعْدٌ )inf noun of قَرُبَ( : Nearness in station or grade or rank; a thing with which one seeks nearness to God or to advance oneself in the favour of God )قُرُبَاتٌ )plural( أَلَا إِنَّهَا قُرْبَةٌ لَّهُمْ : Certainly, it is a means of drawing near (to God( )999( قُرْبى )and( قَرَابَةٌ( : Relationship or relationship by the female side or فِي النِّسَبِ is both قُرْبَى and فِي الرَّحِمِ and قَرَابَةٌ is particularly وَ إِيْتَايُّ ذِي فِي الرَّحِمِ الْقُرْبى : And giving like the kindred )16:91( اَقْرَبُ : Nearer and nearest in respect of place and in respect of time, etc. نَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ 689
