فات فار said. فَهُم : He was or became فَهِيمٌ i. e. having much understanding. فَهُمْتُه : I made him to understand or know a thing. فَفَهَّمْنْهَا سُلَيْمَنَ : We made Solomon understand it or gave him the right understanding of the matter )21:80( فَهِيمُ : Intensive epithet كَثِيرُ الْفَهْمِ and فَهَامَةٌ is doubly intensive. فَاتَ ]aor. يَقُوْتُ inf. noun فَوْتُ and فَاتَ الْأَمْرُ فَوَاتٌ originally signifying فَاتَ وَقْتُ فِعْلِهِ ie the time of doing or performing it passed, elapsed or escaped, neglected by it without his doing or performing it. فَاتَهُ الشَّيْءُ : The time of doing the thing passed without his doing it, or the thing became beyond his reach or escaped him so that he was unable to attain it or do it. فَاتَهُ فُلَانٌ فِي كَذَا : Such a one preceded him or had precedence of him in such a thing. فَاتَ الشَّيْءَ : He passed the thing, went beyond it. وَإِنْ فَاتَكُمْ شَيْءٌ مِّنْ أَزْوَاجِكُمْ : And if any of your wives goes away )60:12(. لِكَيْلًا تَحْزَنُوْا عَلَى مَا فَاتَكُمْ : You might not grieve for what escaped you )3:154( فَوْتُ : To pass away; escape; fail to reach; get beforehand with; leave behind. فَوْتُ يَدِهِ : Beyond the reach of his hand. اَسْمَعُ صَوْتًا وَأَرَى فَوْتًا : I hear a sound but I see no deed. They say فَوْتُ فَائِتُ as بَوْنٌ بَائِنٌ )great or wide distance) as مَوْتُ مَائِتُ or لَيْلٌ لأَئِلٌ i. e. dark night. فَلا فَوْتَ : There shall be no escape )3:52( تَفَاتُ : Incongruity or discordance, fault, flaw, defect, imperfection. تَفَاوَتًا فِي الْفَضْلِ : They were dissimilar in respect of excellence. مَاتَرَى فِي خَلْقِ الرَّحْمَنِ مِنْ تَفَاوُتٍ : Thou seest not in the creation of the Gracious God any incongruity )67:4( مَوْتُ الْفَوَاتِ : Sudden death. مَاتَ مَوْتَ الْفَوَاتِ : He died a sudden death. لک و فَاجَ ]aor. يَفُرْجُ inf. noun فَاجَ الْمِسْكُ فَوْجٌ : The odour of musk spread or the musk diffused its odour فَاجَ النَّهَارُ : The day became cool. فَوْجٌ : A company party or group of men, a company of the followers or dependents of chiefs; a great crowd of men, a multitude of things. كُلَّمَا أُلْقِيَ فِيْهَا فَوْجٌ : Whenever a host (of disbelievers) is cast into it )67:9( أَفْوَاجًا plural )10:3(. فَارَ ]aor. يَفُورُ inf. noun فَوْرٌ and فَارَ الْمَاءُ فَوَرَانٌ : The water gushed forth and flowed. فَارَتِ الْقِدْرُ : The kettle boiled or estuated. فَارَتْ نَفْسُهُ : His soul (or stomach) heaved or became agitated by a 665
