فرق فرع mountain. فَرَعَ الْوَادِيَ : He descended into the valley. فَرَعْتُ رَأْسَهُ : I smote his head. فَرَعَ بَيْنَهُمْ : He effected reconciliation between them by intervening as a barrier between them; he interposed or made a separation between them. فَرْعَ شَعْرُهُ )inf. noun فَرَعٌ( : His hair became abundant تَفَرَّعَتْ أَغْصَانُ الشَّجَرِ : The branches of the tree became abundant. فَرْعُ : The uppermost part of anything; )فُرُوْحٌ plural) hence a branch of a tree or plant or anything; a branch or subdivision or derivative; a thing that is built or founded upon another. فَرْعُهَا فِي السَّمَاءِ : Its branches reach into heaven )14:25( فَرْعُ الْمَرْأَةِ : Hair of the woman. فَرْعُ الْقَوْمِ : Noble or eminent man of the people; a valley branching off; a channel in which water runs to the شِعْبٌ i. e. valley. فَرَغَ ]aor. يَفْرُغُ and يَفْرَغُ and فَرِغَ aor. يَفْرَغُ inf. noun فَرَاغُ and فُرُوغٌ فَرِغَ مِنَ الْعَمَلِ )or( فَرِغْ( : He was or became free from business or occupation; he became unoccupied or at leisure. فَرَغَ لَهُ وَ إِلَيْهِ : He made him or it his exclusive object to which he directed kindly. We : سَنَفْرُغُ لَكُمْ أَيُّهَا الثَّقَلانِ (94:8) When thou art free : إِذَا فَرَغْتَ shall direct our attention to you or apply ourselves exclusively to you O ye two big groups )55:32( فَرَغَ الرَّجُلُ )inf. noun فُرُوْغٌ( : The man died. فَرَغَ دَمُهُ : His blood went unavenged أَفْرَغَ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ )or فَرَغَ and فَرِغَ( : He poured the water over it. رَبَّنَا أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْرًا : O our Lord, pour forth steadfastness upon us )2:251( فَارِ : Empty, devoid or unoccupied (syn. إِنَاءً فَارِغٌ خَالٍ : Empty vessel; free from business, care, anxiety; at leisure. أَصْبَحَ فُؤَادُ أُمِّ مُوْسَى فَارِغًا : The heart or mind of the mother of Moses became devoid of patience or devoid of anything except the remembrance of Moses, or free from anxiety or disquietude (28:11). فَرَقَ ]aor. يَفْرُقُ and يَفْرِقُ inf. noun فَرْقَ and فُرْقَانٌ the latter has a more intensive signification[ . فَرَقَ بَيْنَ الشَّيْتَيْنِ : He made a separation or a division or a distinction or difference between the two things, relating alike to objects of sight and objects of mental perception and فَرَّق to persons and material things; some writers however state that the two verbs are syn. but the latter has an intensive signification. It is also said that الْفَرْقُ is for 647
