غم غلا غلا 28 became strong in its influence upon the head اِغْتَلَمَتِ الْأَمْوَاجُ : The waves were in a state of commotion غلام : A young man, youth, boy, or male child or one from the time of his birth until he attains to the period of شَبَابٌ i. e. young manhood اغلام : Exceeding of the prescribed limit. فَبَشِّرْنَاهُ بِغُلامٍ حَلِيْمٍ : And We gave him the glad tiding of a forbearing son )37:102( إِذًا لَقِيَا غُلَمًا : When they met a young boy )18:75( غُلَمَيْنِ dual )18:83( غِلْمَانُ )plural of غُلامٌ( : Young boys or youths )52:25(. 28 ]aor. يَغْلُوْ inf. noun غَلَا فِي الْأَمْرِ غُلُوٌّ : He exceeded the proper limit in the affair غلا فِى الدِّينِ : He acted or behaved with forced strictness or rigour in religion so that he exceeded the proper limit. لَا تَغْلُوْا فِي دِيْنِكُمْ : Do not exceed the proper limits in your religion )4:172( غلا السَّهْمَ وَغَلَا بِالسَّهْمِ : He shot the arrow to the farthest distance. غلا : It rose in degree. غلا السِّعْرُ )inf. noun The price of the thing rose. ( : عَلَى ]aor. يَغْلِي inf. noun غَلْيٌ etc. [ غَلَتِ الْقِدْرُ : The cooking-pot boiled. غَلَى الرَّجُلُ : The man became vehemently angry. غَلْيٌ : Boiling. يَغْلِي فِي الْبُطُوْنِ كَغَلْيِ الْحَمِيمِ : It will boil in (their) bellies like the لک غَمَّ boiling of scalding water (44:47). غُمَّ الْهِلَالُ ]aor. يَعْمُ inf. noun غَمَّهُ غَمٌمَّ : He covered, veiled or concealed it. : The new moon was veiled to the people by clouds or otherwise. غُمَّ عَلَيْهِ الْخَبَرُ : The information was confused, dubious or vague to him so as to be difficult to be understood. غَمَّهُ : It grieved him. غَمَّ الشَّيْءُ الشَّيْءَ : The thing rose above the thing. غَمَّ : Grief so called because it covers or veils happiness; gloominess of mind; distress etc. syn. with حُزْنٌ and كَرْبٌ )plural( غُمُوْمٌ نَجَّيْنَاهُ مِنَ الْغَمِّ : We delivered him from grief or distress )21:89(. غُمَّةٌ : Perplexity and confusedness. هُوَ فِي غُمَّةٍ مِّنْ أَمْرِهِ : He is in a state of perplexity and darkness in respect of his affair أَمْرٌ غُمَّةٌ : A dubious, confused or vague case or affair. ثُمَّ لَايَكُنْ أَمْرُكُمْ عَلَيْكُمْ غُمَّةً : Then let not your course of action be obscure to you )10:72( أَرْضُ غُمَّةٌ : A narrow land. غِمَامٌ : Clouds or white clouds or thin clouds. حَبُّ الْغَمَامِ : Hail or hailstones. ظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ الْغَمَامَ : We caused the clouds to be a shade over you (2:58). 623
