غفر غضب accompanied by despair of obtaining it. غَضِبَ عَلَيْهِ : He was angry with another person for his sake. غَضِبَ فِي اللَّهِ : He was angry for the sake of God. غَضِبَ مِنْ لا شَيْءٍ : He was angry for nothing. غَضَبٌ : Anger, wrath. Syn with غَيْظٌ. For difference between غَضَبٌ and غَيْظٌ see under رِجْسٌ وَّغَضَبٌ غَيْظٌ : Punishment and wrath )7:72( غَضْبَانُ )act part): Angry, wrathful, or quickly and soon angry. اَلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ )pass. part. ): An object of anger )1:7( غَضْبَانَ أَسِفًا : Indignant and grieved. The difference, according to some authorities, between غَضَبٌ and اَسَ is that whereas the first means anger with anything reparable and the latter means pain on account of anything irreparable. غَضَبَهُ : He made him angry, the latter also making him angry; he broke off from him or quitted him in anger or enmity. مُغَاضِبٌ )act. part. ذَهَبَ مُغَاضِبًا : He went away in anger )21:88(. 38 غَطَشَ ]aor. يَغْطِشُ inf. noun غَطَشَ اللَّيْلُ غَطْشُ : The night became dark. أَغْطَشَ اللَّيْلَ : The night became dark أَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا : He (God) has made its night dark. )79:30 اغطش : He entered upon the darkness of the night. غَطَا ]aor. يَغْطُوْ inf. noun غَطَا الشَّيْءَ [ غَطْرٌ and غَطَّاهُ : He or it covered or concealed the thing and came upon or over it. غَطَ الْمَاءُ : The water rose high. غِطَاءٌ : A cover or covering i. e. a thing by or with which a thing or person is covered; metaphorically used, it means ignorance. فِي غِطَاءٍ عَنْ ذِكْرِى : Under a cover so as not to heed My warning (18:102). غَفَرَ ]aor. يَغْفِرُ inf. noun غَفَرَ الشَّيْءَ غَفْرٌ : He covered veiled, concealed or hid the thing. غَفَرَ الشَّيْبَ بِالْخِضَابِ : He covered or concealed the white hair with dye. غَفَرَ الْمَتَاعٌ : He put the goods into the bag and covered and protected them. غَفَرَ لَهُ ذَنْبَهُ )inf. noun غُفْرَانٌ and مَغْفِرَةٌ( : He (God) covered up his sin, forgave or pardoned it. غَفَرَ الْأَمْرَ : He rectified or reformed the affair. غُفْرَانٌ and مَغْفِرَةٌ on the part of God signify the protection and preservation of a man from the punishment of his sin. فَغَفَرَ لَهُ : So He forgave him )28:17( يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوْبَكُمْ : He (God) will forgive you your sins )3:32( اِسْتَغْفَرَ اللَّهَ and اِسْتَغْفَرَ اللَّهَ لَهُ and اسْتَغَفْرَ اللَّهَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ 618
