عزل عزب honourable will surely drive out )639( اَلْعُزّى : An idol of the Arabs (53:20). عَزَبَ ]aor. يَعْزُبُ and يَعْزِبُ inf. noun عَزَبَ عَنِّي عَزُوْبٌ : He or it was or became distant or remote and absent from me; he or it was or became absent, concealed and went away or departed. لَا يَعْزُبُ عَنْ عِلْمِهِ شَيْءٌ : Nothing is absent or hidden from His knowledge. عَزَبَ عَنْ فُلانٍ حِلْمُهُ : His forbearance quitted him عَزَبَتِ الْاَرْضُ : The land became destitute of inhabitants. وَلا يَعْزُبُ عَنْهُ مِثْقَالُ ذَرَّةٍ : Not an atom's weight is hidden from Him (34:4). عَزَرَ ]aor. يَعْزِرُ inf. noun عَزَّرَهُ عَنِ الشَّيْءِ عَزْرٌ : He prevented or turned him away from the thing. This is the primary signification from which others are derived. عَزَّرَهُ )inf. noun تَعْزِيرٌ ( : He disciplined, corrected or punished him, meaning he did to him that which should turn him away from evil or foul conduct; he inflicted upon him beating less than that is prescribed by the law; he beat him vehemently; he blamed, censured or reproved him; he aided, helped and assisted him, or he strengthened him against his enemy by repelling the latter and did so again and again; he treated him with reverence or respect; he abased him (cont. signification(. عَزَّرُوْهُ وَنَصَرُوْهُ : Who honoured, aided and supported him (7:158). عَزَلَ ]aor. يَعْزِلُ inf. noun عَزَلَهُ عَنْ كَذَا [عَزْلٌ : He removed him put away, displaced him from such a thing. عَزَلَهُ عَنْ مَنْصِهِ : He removed or dismissed him from his office. عَزَلَ عَنْهَا : He did not wish her to have children. مِمَّنْ عَزَلْتَ : From whom thou hast put aside )33:52( اِعْتَزَلَهُ : He separated himself from him or it. يَعْتَزِلُ الْحَرْبَ : He keeps away from the fighting. فَاعْتَزِلُوا النِّسَاءَ : Keep away from women )2:223( مَعْزُولٌ )pass. part. ): One kept away; one dismissed from office. مَعْزُوْلُوْنَ )plural of مَعْزُولٌ( : Those dismissed from office. إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُوْلُوْنَ : They are kept away or debarred from hearing )26:213( مَعْزِل : A state or place of aloofness. كَانَ فِي مَعْزِلٍ : He was keeping apart )11:43( فُلانٌ عَنِ الْحَقِّ بِمَعْزِلِ : Such a one is aloof from the truth. 28 عَزَمَ ]aor. يَعْزِمُ inf. noun عَزْمٌ and عَزِيمَةٌ and عُزْمٌ etc. (. عَزَمَ الْأَمْرَ أَوْ عَلَيْهِ : 569
