عتد عَتُدَ عتا اَعْتَبَ which means he made amends etc. ( فَمَاهُمْ مِّنَ الْمُعْتَبِيْنَ : They will not be of those to whom favour or forgiveness will be shown (41:25). ]aor. يَعْتُدُ inf. noun عَتُدَ الشَّيْءَ عَتَادٌ : The thing was or became at hand, ready, prepared; the thing was or became great, big or bulky. اَعْتَدَهُ : He made it ready or he prepared it. أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ سَعِيرًا : We have prepared a blazing fire for the disbelievers )48:14( عَتِيدٌ : Ready, at hand; near; bulky, big or great. رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٌ : A guardian angel ready (to record it( )50:19(. عَتَقَ ]aor. يَعْتِقُ inf. noun عِشْقٌ and عَتْقٌ etc. ( عَتَقَ الْعَبْدَ : The slave became free. عَتَقَتِ الْفَرَسُ : The horse proceded and became safe and secure. عَتَقَ وَعُتِقَ الْمَالُ : The property became in a good or right state. عَتَقَ وَعَتُقَ الشَّيْءُ : The thing became old عَتَقَتِ الْخَمْرُ أَوْ عَتُقَتْ : The wine became old اَعْتَقَ الْعَبْدَ : He freed the slave. عَتِيقٌ : A horse that procedes or outstrips or that procedes and becomes safe and secure; an excellent horse; swift horse; anything excellent, choice, best; beautiful or comely. عَتِيْقُ الْوَجْهِ : Of comely face; freed or emancipated; old. (plural( عِتَاقٌ عِتَ is applied to the earlier chapters revealed at Mecca الْبَيْتِ الْعَتِيْقِ : Old, freed, beautiful, safe and secure, best and excellent House )22:30( ثَوْبٌ عَتِيْقٌ : A well-woven garment. الْعَتِيْقُ signifies wine and milk. 28 عَتَلَ ]aor. يَعْتُلُ and يَعْتِلُ inf. noun عَتَلَهُ : [ عَتْلٌ : He dragged him roughly or violently and carried him off or pushed or thrust him violently . عَتِلَ إِلَى الشِّرِّ )inf. noun عَتَلٌ( : He was quick to do evil. فَاعْتِلُوْهُ إِلَى سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيْمِ : And drag him into the midst of the Fire )44:48( عُلٌ : A great eater who refuses to give and draws to him a thing roughly or violently; gross, coarse, rough or rude, unkind, or churlish, who will not suffer himself to be led to a good thing; one who recoils from admonition; one vehement in altercation; low, ignoble or mean in natural disposition. عُتُلٌ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ زَنِيمٍ : Rude and in addition of doubtful birth )68:14(. ]aor. يَعْتُوْ inf. noun عُتُوٌّ and عَتِيٌّ and عُتِيٌّ and عِتِيٌّ[ : He behaved proudly and exceeded proper limits; he was excessively proud, 551
