عبا عَبَا عبد ]aor. يَعْبَاً inf. noun عَبَأَ الْجَيْشَ لِلْحَرْبِ عَبْءٌ : He prepared the army for fight. مَا أَعْبَاً بِهِ : What shall I do with it, namely the affair; I do not reckon him as anything or do not esteem him at all or do not at all care for him or mind him. مَا يَعْبَؤُا بِكُمْ رَبِّي : What will my Lord do with you; my Lord will not care for you, or attach no importance to you or reckon you as anything (25:78). عَبَتْ ]aor. يَعْبَتُ inf. noun عَبَثَ الشَّيْءَ بِالشَّيْءِ عَبْتُ : He mixed or mingled one thing with another. عَبثَ )aor. يَعْبَتُ inf. noun عَبَتُ( : He played or sported or amused himself; he mingled together unprofitable actions; he did what was useless and unprofitable. فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ عَبَثًا : He did that profitlessly; he did what was of no use to him. عَبَتَ بِهِ الدَّهْرُ : Fortune made sport with him. أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَكُمْ عَبَثًا : That We have created you in vain or without purpose (23:116). : Do you build on every height a monument seeking vain glory? (You do a useless thing) (26:129). اَتَبْنُوْنَ بِكُلِّ رِيْعٍ آيَةً تَعْبَثُوْنَ عَبَدَ aor. يَعْبُدُ inf. noun عِبَادَةٌ and عُبُرْدِيَّةٌ and عَبَدَ اللهَ مَعْبَدٌ : He served, worshipped or adored God alone, or he rendered to God humble obedience; he obeyed Him مَا عَبَدَكَ عَنِّي : What has withheld thee from me. عَبُدَ )aor يَعْبُدُ ( : He was or became a slave, his forefathers having been so before him. عَبْدَ aor. يَعْبَدُ ( : He was angry. عَبْدَ عَلَيْهِ : He was angry with him. عَبْدَ مِنْهُ : He disdained or scorned him. عَبدَ : He denied, disacknowledged or disallowed; he repented and blamed himself for having been amiss; he mourned, grieved or was sorrowful; he was covetous. عَبْدَ بِهِ : He clove to it or him. لاتَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا الله : You will worship none but Allah )284( عَبَّدَ : He enslaved him; he subdued him so that he did the work of slaves. أَنْ عَبَّدْتَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ : That thou hast enslaved the children of Israel (26:23) (syn عَبَّدَ الطَّرِيقَ ذَلَّ : He trod the road so as to make it even or easy to walk or ride upon. عَبَّدَ الْبَعِيرَ : He subdued or rendered the camel submissive. عَبَّدَ الرَّجُلُ : The man hastened or went quickly. عَبْدٌ : A male slave. لَعَبْدٌ مُّؤْمِنٌ خَيْرٌ : A believing slave is better (2:222); a servant or worshipper of God and of a false god قَالَ إِنِّي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : He said I am a servant of Allah )19:31( عَبْدَيْنِ )dual of عَبْدٌ( : Two 547
