ظل ظعن ظَعَنَ ]aor. يَظْعَنُ inf. noun ظَعْنٌ[ : He journeyed or journeyed to seek herbage or water, or he went from one country to another. يَوْمَ طَعْنِكُمْ : The day when you travel )16:81(. ظَفِرَ ]aor. يَظْفَرُ inf. noun ظَفْرٌ [ : He attained what he required, desired, or sought; he was successful. ظَفِرَهُ وَظَفِرَ بِالْعُدُوِّ أَوْ عَلَيْهِ : He gained victory over the enemy or overcame him. اَظْفَرَهُ : He caused him to attain or acquire what he desired or sought; he caused him to be successful or victorious or to overcome his enemy. أَظْفَرَهُ عَلَيْهِ : He caused him to gain victory over him. مِنْ بَعْدِ أَنْ أَظْفَرَكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ : After He had given you victory over them )48:25( ظفررٌ and ظفر : ظَلَّ 28 28 A nail; a claw, or a talon (pertaining to a human being and to birds and beasts. كُلَّ ذِي ظُفُرِ : All animals having claws )6:147(. ظَفَرٌ : Success, victory. لک ]aor. يَظَلُّ inf. noun ظَلُّ and ظَلَّ يَفْعَلُ كَذَا [ ظُلُولٌ : He continued doing this. فَظَلُّوْا فِيْهِ يَعْرُجُوْنَ : They continued, ascending through it (15:15). ظِلْتُ أَعْمَلُ كَذَا : I continued to do such a thing. فَيَظْلَلْنَ رَوَاحِدَ : So they continued or became motionless )42:34(. Because ظَلَّ also being syn with صَارَ an (incomplete verb( signifies he or it became . ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُ مُسْوَدًا : His face darkens or becomes black )16:59( ظَلُّ الْيَوْمُ : The day became shadowy i. e. sunless. ظَلَّ الشَّيْءُ : The thing became long. ظَلَّله : He shaded him or it. ظَلَّلَهُ عَلَيْهِ : He made it to give shade over him or it. ظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ الْعَمَامَ : We caused the clouds to be a shade over you or to give you shade )2:58( اَظَلّ : )said of a day) it was or became shady. The word also means it advanced اَظَلَّهُ : He took him into his shelter or protection اَظَلَّتْنِي الشَّجَرَةُ : The tree shaded me or gave me shade. اَظَلَّنِي : It covered me. ظُلْةٌ : A thing that covers or protects or shades overhead; anything that protects and shades one as a building or a mountain or a cloud; a covering. According to Raghib, mostly said of that which is deemed unwholesome and which is disliked. كَانَّهُ ثُلَّةٌ : As though it were a covering )7:172( فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ الظُّلَّةِ : Then the punishment و سی of the day of overshadowing gloom overtook them (26:190). ظُلَلٌ is the plural of لَهُمْ مِّنْ فَوْقِهِمْ ظُلَلٌ مِّنَ النَّارِ ظُلَّةٌ : They will have 539
