صفن صفح him or it the صَفْحَةٌ ie the side of his face; he turned away from and left him or it. ضَرَبْتُ عَنْهُ صَفْحًا : I turned away from him and left him صَفْحًا being here an inf. noun and therefore in the accusative case, as in the phrase وَقَعَدْتُ جُلُوْسًا ; or it is in the accusative case as an adv. noun and the meaning is, I turned away from him aside. See also under أَفَنَضْرِبُ عَنْكُمُ الذِّكْرَ ضَرَبَ صَفْحًا : Shall We take away the reminder and ignore or neglect you )43:6( صَفَحَ عَنْهُ : He turned away from his sin, crime, fault or offence, or he forgave him. فَاصْفَحْ عَنْهُمْ : So turn aside from them )43:90( وَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَمِيْلِ : So turn away from them in a goodly manner. فَاعْفَوْا وَاصْفَحُوْا : So pardon and forgive )2:110(. صَفَحَ السَّائِلَ عَنْ حَاجَتِهِ : He turned back or refused the request of the beggar. صَفَحَهُ بِالسَّيْفِ : He struck him with the side or flat of the sword. صَفَدَ ]aor. يَصْفِدُ inf. noun صَفَدَهُ [صَفْدٌ : He bound him, bound fast, shackled or fettered him in iron or with a collar of iron. صَفَدٌ : A bond or chain or shackle or fetter or collar of iron أَصْفَادٌ )plural): Shackles or fetters; chains. مُقَرَّنِينَ فِي الْأَصْفَادِ : bound in chains or fetters )14:50( صَفَدٌ : A gift الصَّفَدُ صَفَدٌ : The gift is a shackle or fetter; praise, eulogy or commendation. 280 صَفَرَ ]aor. يَصْفِرُ inf. noun صَفِيَّرٌ [ : It (a) bird) uttered a certain sound. صَفَرَهُ : He made or dyed it yellow. اِصْفَرَّ : It became yellow أَصْفَرُ : Yellow or gold-colour )صَفْرَاءُ( : feminine( اَلْصَفْرَاءُ also means gold. إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ صَفْرَاءُ : It is yellow cow of gold colour )2:70( صَفْرَاءُ is also a kind of bile. اَصْفَرُ also black; a black camel; camel of which the ground is black, with some yellow hair coming through; or a horse having a yellow tail and mane. صُفْرٌ )plural of كَانَّهُ جِمَلَتٌ صُفْرٌ أَصْفَرُ : As if they are camels of bright yellow hue )77:34( مُصَفَّرٌ )pass. part. اِصْفَرَّ( : Turned or rendered yellow. فَرَأَوْهُ مُصْفَرًا : They saw it turned yellow )30:52(. صَفَنَ ]aor. يَصْفِنُ inf. noun صَفَنَ الْفَرَسُ صُفُوْنٌ : The horse stood upon three legs and the extremity of the hoof of the fourth leg, or he stood upon three legs and otherwise. صُفُوْنٌ signifies particularly the act of standing or standing still. قَامَ لَهُ النَّاسُ صُفُوْنًا : People 484
