سطر سری poison crept in him. سَرَى هَمُّهُ : His anxiety went away. وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ : By the night when it goes on, or when one journeys in it )895( سَارَ بِهِ or سَرَى بِهِ or اَسْری به : He made him to travel or journey by night or in the night; he journeyed or travelled with him by night or in the night or transported him by night or carried him. سُبْحْنَ الَّذِي اَسْرَى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلًاً : Glorified be He Who carried His servant by night )17:2( وَسَارَ بِأَهْلِهِ : And carried with him his family )28:30( سَرِيٌّ : Arivulet or streamlet; a rivulet running to palm-trees. قَدْ جَعَلَ رَبُّكِ تَحْتَكِ سَرِيًّا : Thy Lord has placed a rivulet below thee (19:25). سَطَحَ ]aor: يَسْطَحُ inf. noun سَطَحَهُ سَطْحُ : He spread it or expanded it. سَطَحَ اللَّهُ الْأَرْضَ : God spread or expanded the earth. كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ : How it is spread (88:21). سَطَحَهُ : He threw him down so that he lay on his back; he threw him on his side. سَطْحُ : The flat top or roof of a house; the surface of a place; a plane. سَطَرَ ]aor. يَسْطُرُ inf. noun سَطَرَهُ سَطْرٌ and اِسْتَطَرَهُ : He wrote it ruled it. سَطَرَهُ بِالسَّيْفِ : He cut him with the sword. سَطَّرَ : He composed or fabricated lies, falsehoods; he said what was false. سَطَّرَ عَلَيْنَا : He told us stories having no foundation; he told us stories resembling falsehoods; he embellished stories to us with lies; he related to us wonderful stories of the ancients. أَسَاطِيْرُ is the plural of اَسْطُرٌ and اَسْطَارٌ and سُطُوْرٌ which in turn are the plurals of سَطَرٌ and أَسَاطِيْرُ سَطْرٌ is also the plural of أَسْطُوْرَةٌ and means fables; lies; or falsehoods; fictions; legends; stories embellished with lies; wonderful stories or written tales or lies of the ancients. إِلا أَسَاطِيْرُ الْأَوَّلِيْنَ : But the legends of the ancients )6:26(. وَالْقَلَمِ وَ مَا يَسْطُرُوْنَ : By the pen and by what they write )68:2(. مُسْتَطَرْ : Inscribed written. وَكِتَابٍ مَّسْطُوْرٍ : By the Book inscribed And everything small and great is : وَكُلُّ صَغِيرٍ وَكَبِيرٍ مُّسْتَطَرٌ (52:3) written down )54:54( سَيْطَرَ وَسَوْطَرَ عَلَيْنَا : He had or exercised absolute authority over us; he acted as a watcher and guardian over us paying frequent attention to us. مُصَيْطِرُوْنَ) مُصَيْطِرٌ plural( : Guardian or watcher or one exercising absolute authority. لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُصَيْطِرٍ : Thou hast no authority over them; thou art not 394
