سرف سردق 28 uninterruptedly and well the narrative. سَرْدٌ : Coat or coats of mail; any other rings; consecutive or following one another نَجُوْمٌ سَرْدٌ : Stars that are consecutive. اَسْرَدَ also means the nailing or making firm or fast with nails وَقَدِرْ فِي السَّرْدِ : And do thou make a due adaptation of the rings, or measure well the links in the fabrication of the coats of mail (34:12). 28 سَرْدَقَ ]aor. يُسَرْدِقُ inf. noun سَرْدَقَ الْبَيْتَ سَرْدَقَةٌ : He covered the house with an awning over its interior court. سُرَادِقُ : An awning extended over the interior court of a house; a tent; dust rising or spreading or diffusing itself; smoke rising high and surrounding a thing. أَحَاطَ بِهِمْ سُرَادِقُهَا : Its canopy shall enclose them )18:30( سُرَادِقَاتُ )plural( سَرِعَ : سَرُعَ and سَرِعَ [. etc سُرْعَةٌ ]aor. يَسْرَعُ and سَرُعَ aor. يَسْرُعُ inf. noun He or it was quick, speedy hasty اَسْرَعَ فِى الْم : He hastened in walking; he sought or endeavoured to be quick. Whereas أَسْرَعَ signifies endeavour or affectation to be quick. سُرْعٌ denotes what is as it were an innate quality. سَارَعَ إِلَى الشَّيْءِ : He hastened to the thing. سَارَعَ فِي الْأَمْرِ : He endeavoured or strove hard in the affair. سَارَعُوْا إِلَى كَذَا : They hastened to such a thing or they vied one with one another in hastening or in hastening to get to the thing before others. This is the significance of مُسَارَعَةٌ i. e. vying with one another to get before others to a thing. الَّذِيْنَ يُسَارِعُوْنَ فِي الْكُفْرِ : Those who fall into disbelief hastily )3:17( سَارِعُوْا إِلَى مَغْفِرَةٍ مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْ : Vie one with one another in obtaining forgiveness from your Lord )3:14( سَرِيعُ : Quick expeditious; speedy or swift. فَرَسٌ سَرِيعُ : A swift horse. سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ : Quick in reckoning : أَسْرَعُ الْحَسِنِينَ (7:168) Quick in punishing : سَرِيعُ الْعِقَابِ (2:203) 28 More and most quick, expeditious of reckoners (66) the plural of يَخْرُجُوْنَ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ سِرَاعًا سَرِيعُ : They will come forth from the graves hastening (70:44). سَرِفَ ]aor. يَسْرَفُ inf. noun سَرَفَ الْأَمْرَ سَرَفٌ : He was unmindful, negligent or heedless of the affair. مَا فَيْ عَطَائِهِمْ مَنْ وَّ لَا سَرَفٌ : There is no reproach or heedlessness in their benefits. اَسْرَ inf. noun إِسْرَا : He was unmindful, heedless or negligent; he exceeded 392
