رکن ركع horse to run by striking with foot or leg رَكَضْتُ الْفَرَسَ بِرِجْلِي : I urged the horse to run with my foot or leg رُكِضَ الْفَرَسُ فَرَكَضَ هُوَ : The horse was urged to run and he ran رَضَ الرَّجُلُ : The man fled and ran. إِذَا هُمْ مِّنْهَا يَرْكُضُوْنَ : Lo they fled from it )21:13(. أُرْكُضْ بِرِجْلِكَ : Strike and urge (the beast) with thy foot )38:43(. رَكَعَ ]aor. يَرْكَعُ inf. noun رُكُوعٌ[ : He bowed down; he lowered his head. Imam Raghib adds that it is sometimes to denote humility and self abasement, either in worship or in other cases; he prayed. رَكَعَ إِلَى اللَّهِ : He humbled himself to God; he completely turned towards God and worshipped Him alone. وَارْكَعُوْا مَعَ الرَّاكِعِينَ : And bow down with those who bow )2:44( وَاسْجُدِى وَارْكَعِي مَعَ الرَّاكِعِينَ : And prostrate thyself and worship (God alone( with those who worship )3:44( رَاكِعُوْنَ ( رَاكِعٌ and رَاكِعِينَ and رُكَّعٌ are all plurals). Bowing or one who bows down; prostrating himself in thanksgiving, praying. وَخَرَّ رَاكِعًا وَأَنَابَ : And he fell down bowing in worship and turned (to Him( )38:25( وَالرُّكَّعِ السُّجُودِ : And those who bow down and fall prostrate in Prayer )2:126( وَالرَّاكِعُونَ السَّاجِدُونَ : And those who bow down and fall prostrate in Prayer (9:112). The famous pre-Islamic poet He : رُبَّ رَاكِعِ إِلَى رَبِّ الْبَرِيَّةِ سَيَبْلُغُ عُدْرًا اَوْ نَجَاةً مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِ :Nabigha says who worships God alone, The Creator of the world, will have a good plea and will obtain salvation from Him رَكَعَتِ النَّخْلَةُ : The palm-tree inclined. رَع also signifies, he became poor after richness or sufficiency and his condition became lowered or abased. رَكُمْ ]aor. يَرْكُمُ inf. noun رَكُمُ الشَّيْءَ رَكْمٌ : He heaped up, piled up, accumulated i. e. he collected together the thing and put one part of it upon another. رُكَامٌ and رَكْمٌ and مَرَاكَمٌ and مَرْكُوْمٌ means the same thing. مَرْكُوْمٌ : Passive Participle. سَحَابٌ مَرْكُوْمٌ : Clouds piled up )52:45( ثُمَّ يَجْعَلُهُ رُكَامًا : Then He piles them up )24:44(. فَيَرْكُمَهُ جَمِيعًا : And He heaps them up all together )8:38( رَكَنَ ]aor. يَرْكُنُ and رَكِنَ aor. يَرْكَنُ inf. noun رَكَنَ إِلَيْهِ رُكُوْنًا : He inclined to him or it; he relied upon him or it so as to be or become easy or quiet in mind; he was or became firm, still, grave, staid, 341
