رحل tradition(. رِحْلَةٌ : The act of mode of saddling the camels; a departure or journey; death دَنَتْ رِحْلَتُنَا : Our departure has drawn near. Syn. with رِحْلَةَ الشَّتَاءِ وَالصَّيْفِ رَحِيلٌ : Their journey in winter and summer )1063( رُحْلَةٌ : The place, object, point to which one journeys. مَكَّةُ رُحْلَتِي : Mecca is the object of my journey. رَحِمَ ]aor. يَرْحَمُ inf. noun رَحْمَةٌ and رَحِمَهُ مَرْحَمَةٌ : He had pity mercy or compassion on him; he was kind or tender towards him; he was inclined to favour or benefit him; he forgave or pardoned him = إِلا مَا رَحِمَ رَبِّي تَرَحَّمَ عَلَيْهِ : Save that whereon my Lord has mercy )12:54( رَحْمَةٌ وَ مَرْحَمَةٌ : Mercy or compassion; or tenderness or kindness; or beneficence or forgiveness or an inclination to show one of these. رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ : The mercy of Allah and His blessings )11:74( فَلَوْ لَا فَضْلُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ : Had it not been for Allah's grace towards you and His mercy (2: 65). رَحْمَةٌ as contrasted to فَضْلٌ is generally spoken of such acts of God's kindness or mercy as relate to religion or spiritual matters. According to some رَحْمَةٌ is of two kinds, namely gratuitous and obligatory; (1). the first kind embraces everything; رَحْمَتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ : My mercy encompasses all things (7:157); (2). The obligatory is that which is promised to the pious and the doers of good. إِنَّ رَحْمَةَ اللَّهِ قَرِيْبٌ مِّنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ : The mercy of God is nigh unto those who do good )7:57( رَحْمَة also means, (3) sustenance or the means of subsistence, as perhaps He it is : هُوَ الَّذِي يُرْسِلُ الرِّيَاحَ بُشْرًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِ in (41:51); (4) rain Who sends the winds as glad tidings before His mercy or rain (7:58); (5). Plenty; or abundance of herbage and of the goods, )6(. conveniences or comforts of life. وَ إِذَا اَذَقْنَا النَّاسَ رَحْمَةً : And when We make people taste of mercy (comforts of life) (10:22 and 30:37( رُحْمٌ is syn with رَحْمَةٌ ; mercy etc. وَأَقْرَبَ رُحْمًا : And nearer to mercy )1882( مَرْحَمَةٌ syn with وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْمَرْحَمَةِ رَحْمَةٌ : And exhort one another to mercy )90:18( رِحْمٌ and رَحِمٌ )plural أَرْحَامٌ( : Womb; relationship, particularly by the female side; tie or ties of relationship. أُولُوا الْأَرْحَامِ أَوْ ذَوُوالْأَرْحَامِ : Blood relations. And as to blood relations : أُولُو الْاَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلَى بِبَعْضٍ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ 319
