حيث حال power but by means of God. حِوَلٌ : Revival; or change; لا يَبْغُوْنَ عَنْهَا حِوَلًا : They will not desire any change or manner of changing from one state to another (18:109); an evasion or elusion; a trick; a wile, a plan; an artifice; a means of attaining to some state concealably; ability to manage according to one's own free will. لاحِيْلَةَ لَهُ : He has no mode of evading. لا يَسْتَطِيْعُوْنَ حِيْلَةً : Are incapable of adopting any plan )499( تَحْوِيْلٌ : Change; alteration. لا تَجِدُ لِسُنَّتِنَا تَحْوِيلًا : Thou wilt not find any change in Our way (17:78). حَوِىَ ]aor. يَحْوَى inf. noun حَوِىَ حَوًى or إِحْرَوَى : He was or became of The land was or : اِحْوَوَتِ الْاَرْضُ أَوْ إِخْوَرَّتْ حُوَّةٌ the colour termed became green. حُرَّةٌ : Redness inclining to blackness, or blackness inclining to greenness; greenness, inclining to blackness by reason of intense greenness خُضْرَةٌ intermixed with blackness and yellowness اَحْوى : Of the colour termed حُوةٌ فَجَعَلَهُ غُثَاءً أَحْوى : So has made it (herbage) dried up black by reason of oldness. حَوَى ]aor. يَحْوِى inf. noun حَبًّا and حَوَى الشَّيْءَ حَوَايَةً : He collected, gathered drew or gained possession of the thing; it comprised or comprehended or contained it; he turned the thing round. حَوِيَّةٌ )plural( حَوَايَا ( : Intestine; small tank; gut; thick cloth placed under the load of a camel أَوِ الْحَوَايَا : Or the intestines )6:147(. حَيْتُ is an adverbial noun of place signifying 'where' like حِيْنَ with respect to time. اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ حَيْثُ يَجْعَلُ رِسَالَتَهُ : Allah knows best where to place His Message (6:125). It is also governed by من سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمْ مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُوْنَ : We will draw them to destruction step by step from whence they know not (68:45). It sometimes occurs as denoting time signifying 'When'. The particles ما is sometimes affixed to it and in this case it implies a conditional meaning, signifying 'Wherever' or 'Whenever' as in حَيْثُمَا تَجْلِسْ أَجْلِسْ i. e. where thou wilt sit, I will sit مِنْ حَيْثُ is also used to signify 'as to; ' in respect of'; 'as' or 'considered as'; 'since' or 'because'; 'so that'.
