جرز thick stick one end of which is a live coal. جَذْوَةٍ مِّنَ النَّارِ : A brand of fire )28:30( فُلَانٌ جُذْوَةُ شَرِّ : Such a one is a kindler or a piece of mischief. ]aor. يَجُرُّ inf. noun جَرٌ[ : He dragged, drew, pulled, tugged or stretched. مَا جَرَّكَ إِلَى هَذَا الْأَمْرِ : What drew thee to do this thing. هَلُمَّ جَرَّا : At thine ease; it will continue. هَلُمَّ جَرُّوا : Come at your اَخَذَ بِرَأْسِ اَخِيْهِ يَجُرُّهُ . The night was or became long : جَرَّتِ اللَّيْلَةُ . ease جر جَرَّ إِلَيْهِ : He caught hold of his brother's head, dragging him towards himself (7:151). 28 جَرَحَ ]aor. يَجْرَحُ inf. noun جَرَحَهُ [جَرْحٌ : He wounded him or made an impression upon him with a weapon or rent some part of his body. جَرَحَهُ بِلِسَانِهِ : He wounded him with his tongue; he reviled him; he found fault with him; he spoke ill of him. جَرَحَ الشَّهَادَةَ : He invalidated the evidence. اِجْتَرَحَ الْإِثْمَ : He committed a sin. جُرح : He received a wound; his testimony was rendered or declared invalid. جَرَحَ also means, he worked or wrought with his hand; he earned. بِئْسَ مَا جَرَحَتْ يَدَاكَ : Evil is that which thy hands have wrought. يَعْلَمُ مَا جَرَحْتُمْ بِالنَّهَارِ : And He knows what you do by day )6:61( وَالَّذِيْنَ اجْتَرَحُوا السَّيِّئَاتِ : And those who commit sins )45:22( جُرْحُ : A wound (plural )جَوَارِحُ جُرُوْحٌ )singular جَارِحَةٌ( : Beasts and birds of prey; the limbs; the organs of the body; mares. وَالْجُرُوْحَ قِصَاصٌ : And for other wounds there is also retaliation )5:46( وَمَا عَلَّمْتُمْ مِّنَ الْجَوَارِحِ : And what you have taught the beasts and birds of prey )55( جَرَّاحُ : A surgeon. جَرَدَ ]aor. يَجْرُدُ inf. noun جَرَدَ الْجَرَادُ الْأَرْضَ جَرْدٌ : The locust ate what was upon the land and stripped it of all its herbage. جُرِدَتِ الْاَرْضُ : The land was smitten by locusts تَجَرَّدَ : He was or became alone. مُجَرَّدٌ : A man alone; a bare or naked sword. جَرَادٌ : Locusts; the locust. فَاَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الطُّوْفَانَ وَالْجَرَادَ : So We sent upon them the storm and locusts (7:134). جَرَزَ ]aor. يَجْرُزُ inf. noun جَرَزَهُ [جَرْزًا : He cut it ; he cut it utterly. جَرَزَهُ الزَّمَانُ : The time exterminated or destroyed him جُرِزَتِ الْأَرْضُ أَوْجُرِزَتْ : The land became without herbage. جَرَزَهُ : He slew him. جَرَزَ : He ate quickly and much جَرَزَ مَا عَلَى الْمَائِدَةِ : He ate every 132
